The e-invoice in Europe

Finland

The public sector must be able to receive e-invoices according to EN 16931. Since 2020, buyers have the right to request e-invoices from suppliers. Common formats are Finvoice 3.0 and TEAPPSXML 3.0 which are both EN compliant.

The facts

Digital developments are moving fast and are being accelerated by the ViDA reform, which will make e-invoicing mandatory for all cross-border transactions within the EU from July 2030.
This guide presents the domestic situation regarding e-invoicing in each country.

Under the law introduced on April 1, 2020, contracting entities and traders - with an annual turnover above €10,000 - are given the right to receive e-invoices on request. This means that if the buyer asks for an e-invoice, the supplier must be able to send it.
